Benjamin Done

Ben qualified as a solicitor in 1996.  He trained with Slaughter and May in the City of London where he spent 6 years before moving to establish the London office of a Chicago law firm.  He returned to his native North East in 2002 with Dickinson Dees (now Bond Dickinson) as a solicitor and a partner.  In 2009 he joined national firm Eversheds until April 2012, when he joined top 20 UK law firm DWF LLP to head up their commercial property team in Newcastle.  He left that role in February 2016 to set up the initial stage of Cornerstone.

Ben works for a number of offshore property investment funds and high net worth private individuals with particular emphasis upon the acquisition and management of large scale mixed use portfolios. He also acts for a number of property developers involved in both commercial and residential development.

 

Ben’s clients include a national carpet and bed retailer undertaking all aspects of their property work and Ben has also acted for a number of NHS bodies in relation to a number of healthcare schemes and the disposal of various surplus sites.

 

Recent specific projects include::

 

  • The sale of two multi let office buildings in Newcastle Upon Tyne for a combined value in excess of £40 million
  • The refinance of 3 property companies for a combined value exceeding £35 million
  • The day to day asset management of two industrial property portfolios as well as a regional office portfolio for various London-based property companies
  • The sale of a mixed use commercial property portfolio for an off shore property fund for £70 million
  • Acting for a regional property developer on all aspects of the regeneration of Hoyland Town Centre working in conjunction with the local Council
  • The acquisition of a number of development sites in Surrey and Kent for two housebuilders for the development of circa 400 new homes
  • Acting for an offshore property fund on the development of 167 homes on a contaminated site in Berkshire
  • Acting for an NHS Trust on the sale of a surplus hospital site for a mixed use development
